If you’ve been watching our Indiegogo campaign, you know that we didn’t raise nearly enough money to fund our technology upgrades. As we reexamine our strategy, we are keeping those generously given funds on ice. All of this has certainly been a learning experience. Among the major learnings: The Nonprofit Snapshot is not a consumer-driven device. It is not a gadget, a movie, or a slick electronic toy. It is a consultant’s tool, and that may simply be something that does not resonate with the general crowd-funding public.
But we’re not giving up! Perhaps in a few weeks, we may try again on Kickstarter instead of Indiegogo. In the meantime, we are broadening our strategy to include:
1) Specific asks of the nonprofit consulting community. As we continue to enhance the offerings of what is essentially becoming a consultant’s app, we need to figure out how to more specifically reach those consultants.
2) Specific asks from grant-makers themselves. There are a number of ways to structure the right partnership. For instance, in partnership, we’d like to provide the Nonprofit Snapshot to all of a Foundation’s grantees as part of a beta-program for the new Nonprofit Snapshot application.
As always, we welcome your suggestions and comments on our endeavors. And we look forward to working with you!
